He leaves behind life partner, Mary MacMillan children, Debbie (Mike), Keith (Cheryl) and Dean step-son, Jason (Kelly) grandchildren, Richelle (Trevor), Ellen (Bret), Christopher, Eden, and Avery great-grandchildren, Hannah, Dessa, Russell, Abel and Oscar siblings, Charlie (Merebeth), Betty Anne (Doug) Cameron, Sandra (the late Donald) MacDonald, Duncan (Bonnie), Ludy (Selina), Eldon (Darlene), Alex (the late Mary), Francis (Charlene), Johnnie, Peter (Sandra) sisters-in-law, Brenda and Theresa MacLellan and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Jimmy (Brenda), brother-in-law, Donald sister-in-law, Mary and grandsons, Cory and Alex MacDonald. Barry was born June 28th,1941, in Timmins, Ontario to Elizabeth (MacDonald) and Alexander Sutherland. Hughena loved a good game of cards and she and Roddie enjoyed gardening together, always growing a healthy crop of potatoes. Nothing brought her more joy than trips “home” to Cape Breton to see her family. She loved her annual summer trips with her three sisters, many memories were made, and laughs shared. Hughena was a true caregiver, caring for her parents during periods of illness and her husband Roddie in his later years. They built a life in Big Marsh, Antigonish. Hughena met her husband Roddie MacLellan, and they married in 1978. Hughena resided in Montreal for several years before returning home to Nova Scotia and worked at the RK MacDonald Nursing Home before retiring in the ’80s. ![]() Shortly after completing the course, she began her career at a Veterans Hospital in Montreal. Early on, it was evident Hughena had a calling to nursing and she obtained her CNA designation from Camp Hill Hospital in Halifax. Born November 17th, 1938, in Centreville, Cape Breton, Hughena was a daughter of the late James and Margaret MacLellan. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Krystal's name to the ALS Society of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia or to Mental Health.It is with sorrow that the family of Mary Hughena MacLellan announces her passing on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023, in the RK MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish, with family at her side.
